The Junior PCSO Scheme 2 years on

Junior PCSO Scheme

The Junior PCSO's from Mansbridge, Southampton Central and Hythe have been working with Swaythling Housing Society and Hampshire Constabulary to produce a video about the Junior PCSO scheme.

The video aims to show the positive outcomes of the schemes and the impact they have had on communities a few years after being set up.

It is hoped that other communities may be able to use Junior PCSO schemes as a tool to reduce Anti Social Behavior. The first Junior PCSO schemes were started in Southampton Central in 2007. There are now many more in various areas all over England.  The children involved are between the ages of 7 and 12.  They carry out jobs in the community such as litter picks, graffiti clean ups and are rewarded with trips away and talks from emergency service professionals. The most recent trip will be to Swaythling Housings main office in Eastleigh where they will have a guided tour and a chance to learn about the role of Swaythling Housing Society in their communities.
