Alongside our residents, we are involved in many community projects. Here are our most recent:
Two residents completed audio transcripts of Swaythlink. One resident has now started working for Chris Litton from Audio Transcriptions on a voluntary basis on other audio transcriptions.
Over the last few months we have been in contact with several members of our BME Network. It was decided that we would take a new approach and following a meeting with Southampton City Council and Hyde Martlett, discussions are ongoing to further the development of a workplan based on the Single Equality Action Plan.
We are currently piloting Resident Estate Inspections in the Whiteley area. The approach that we have adopted has been previously piloted and is successfully running in several other areas and for other housing providers, such as First Wessex, Saxon Weald, Solihull and Westlea Housing. The format of estate inspections is the same for both housing officers and residents with both using the same inspection forms. This is to ensure ease of comparison and cosistency of approach. Discussions are underway to develop resident led recruitment of additional residents as Estate Inspectors int he future. A first successful inspection has already been carried out by residents living at Whiteley and whose contribution was much valued.
Kinsbourne Rise Residents Association Annual General MeetingThis was held on 21 September 2009. All residents were invited to attend and received a flyer. A new committee was elected at the AGM, and reports were given which included one from the Treasurer and one from the Chairperson. Once the formal meeting was over , there was a discussion on anti-social behaviour and how agencies work together to combat this. There was also a review on how Swaythling Housing Society's service charge is set.
