Residents living in or near Inkerman Road, Woolston, had a wonderful afternoon in brilliant sunshine on Wednesday 2nd June. Starting in the early afternoon a number of fun activities were laid on to encourage parents and children to play together in green spaces. Inkerman Road in Woolston had a piece of ground that had not been used in a while, so together with Southampton City Council, Raglan Housing and Hyde Housing we organised a fun day, the grass was cut, the thorn bushes cleared, and a babeque was laid on in the evening by RKadia.
Councillor Carol Cunio, Mayor of Southampton, came along and chatted to our residents, some of whom didn't even know the space was there. The Mayor has campaigned for a while to get this particular piece of ground opened up for local people to use - which they certainly did while we were there!
Saints in the Community coached local budding England players in football, and we supplied lots of games, face painting and a RAP Story Teller - after all it was also Story Telling Day! More than 70 people came along to the event and judging by all the happy faces had a great time.

Our residents said they wanted to get more involved in planning things in Woolston. Watch this space!
