Mansbridge (not so) Big Lunch!
On Sunday 5th June 2011 despite the rather wet weather, over a million people in the UK got together in their neighbourhood's for food, fun, games and conversation at thousands of Big Lunches showing us the true spirit of the nation! One of the communities involved this year was Mansbridge in Southampton, who held a big lunch for the first time. So, in Mansbridge we were expecting to be able to sit on the field and enjoy lunch together whilst watching the clown and playing games… we just didn’t see the rain coming! In true British manner the rain seemed to show no signs of stopping. So off back home went the residents with the picnics, back in to the car went the games and parachute and the ice cream man had a Sunday off work! As you can see from our photos though, it didn’t stop a few people from sticking around under the umbrellas and seeing the clown show!
