Junior PCSO scheme

In April 2008, Swaythling worked with the Police to promote the role of the Junior Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs). On the Junior PCSO scheme, young people at Lumpy Lane in Northam, at Chapel in Southampton and at Archers Gate in Amesbury worked with Hampshire Constabulary PCSOs on projects such as litter picks, clean up days, visits to the fire station and many sports activities.

Junior PCSOs also took part in away days and an exchange visit with a neighbouring town.  The scheme focused on encouraging everyone to get involved in their environment and on what made a good neighbour.  In partnership with Southampton Football Club, a six week Junior PCSO scheme took place over the summer holidays for children living in the Southampton City Centre area.
