How to Cook & Shop on a Budget As our previous session 'Financial Healthcheck' was such a success, in November 2008 we held a follow-on course that took place called How to Cook and Shop on a Budget'.
We explored ideas on how to shop on a limited budget as well as reducing the amount of food that gets thrown away and learning to eat healthily. Free goodie bags and information were available, along with recipe ideas and how to make the most of leftovers. We also looked at top tips for reusing and recycling household food. Solent Credit Union joined us for the two hour training and gave residents an insight into how they can mange their money, savings and borrowing more effectively.
A follow up practical session was held where residents could watch a live cookery display and have a go at it themselves. The practical session was planned alongside Swaythling shared owner, Enid Horton and had nine residents attending with six residents saying they were interested in assisting in future sessions.
