Residents from Shinewell Gardens, Millbrook, had the opportunity to grow their own vegetables as part of a scheme launched by Radian’s Community Involvement Team to help improve the neighbourhood and get people involved.
During the recent Repairs Day, staff from Radian’s Community Involvement Team took the time to check up on resident’s vegetables that were given to them in July. It’s been almost two months and several residents have successfully grown tomato plants which they have all re-potted and cared for. Unfortunately, the slugs – a gardener’s worse enemy, ate resident’s lettuce and radish which is a real shame.
Nevertheless the tomatoes are healthy and residents are pleased with their horticultural achievements. One resident has their tomato plant on show for everybody to admire in a pretty window box of their top floor flat!
