Gardens In Bloom

Nina Gore gardening competition

Peter Creed, Grounds Maintenance Officer, and Michael Luckie from the Community Involvement Team, received a warm welcome when judging our gardening competition for 2008.

It was clear that gardening was a real passion. We were very impressed by Ali Tatum, of Portsmouth, who makes magnificent use of a very small piece of land in her block of flats.

Wayne Thirlaway, from Andover, again made very good use of a small garden with imagination and flair.

We couldn't understand why Nina Gore, from Fawley, Southampton, was so nervous. Her enthusiasm was delightful.

Colin Thornton, from North Baddesley, and Chris Rowe, of Southampton, showed their experience.

"What was very interesting," said Michael, "was that all the gardeners gave pleasure to their neighbours." The five with their very different approaches to an absorbing interest each won a well deserved £20 B&Q voucher.
