Formed in 2010, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Group has been looking at how Radian can support both staff and residents. They also looked at ways to improve engagement with LGBT residents.
At every quarterly meeting there are hot topics of discussion. The most recent was about Radian’s publications. The group felt that Radian should consider the use of images in its publications to include images of same gender couples.
Residents also felt there was a bias towards activities for families and children and would welcome a wider variety of projects that are more inclusive. We also have fed back comments to staff regarding the wording and imagery used in our publications.
At our August meeting, we discussed issues LGBT residents and staff may experience within housing, such as anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse and harassment.
