Archers Gate in Amesbury won the award for 'Best large development' at the Affordable Home Ownership awards 2009.
The awards were hosted by Sarah Beeny from Channel Four's 'Property Ladder' television show. Archers Gate won the award as the development has had a substantial impact on the local community and is an example of how a combination of different tenures can live in harmony, changing the perception of 'social housing'.
Archers Gate, Amesbury is a development of 500 new homes with 25% available as affordable housing. These homes are dispersed throughout the development to ensure a truly mixed tenure. The individuality and design of the homes takes into account the archeological and historical significance of the area. All the houses have their own individual gardens and have been built to a very high specification. There is a new infant junior school in the heart of the development as well as a community centre which has proven to be a valuable asset and central to the sprit of the community.
Congratulations to everyone who has been involved in the Archers Gate community and also thank you to all of our residents!
