A Treat for Local Residents

In July Helen Humphries Community Project Worker, came up with a novel way to encourage Residents to come along and chat to her by having Pamper Days. Helen says: "We set up gazebos on the estates and soon attracted Residents who wanted to take advantage of the free treatments on offer from Lush Cosmetics. Residents were treated to hand and arm treatments and demonstrations with the firm favourite being the bath bomb. All the beauty products are made from fresh fruit and vegetables and are not tested on animals."

Residents who came along asking for information, support or guidance received a personal written reply with information about local community organisations that could help them begin to resolve any issues they had. One Resident who asked about smoking was amazed to discover that if she gave it up she would be able to afford a family holiday. Many Residents asked if we could hold the event again.

Residents living in the Lordshill and Millbrook areas who have any suggestions for events that they would like to see in their area or would like more information about the help available on a one to one basis should contact Helen Humphries, Community Project Worker, on 023 8062 8000 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
