Residents in Portsmouth came along to the Landport Adventure Playground on Saturday 15th October to enjoy a Caribbean feast of fun and games. With Caribbean food tasting, reggae music and arts and crafts on offer, local residents soaked up the Caribbean sunshine throughout the afternoon. Local man, Trevor McCardle, has set up Cage Cricket, a new, dynamic form of cricket designed for inner city areas. Youngsters had great fun testing their skills with bat and ball inspired by photos of some of the great black cricketers who have played for Hampshire over the years.
Staff from Radian and Portsmouth City Council set up the event as part of the city’s Black History Month celebrations which aims to recognise and promote knowledge of black history and experience as well as share information on positive black contributions. Thanks to local Afro- Caribbean foodstore Ariya International Foods who donated food for the event.
